Check for signs and symptoms of breast cancer

Knowing how your breasts normally look and feel is the best early-warning system you have. Here is what to check for every month and when to see a doctor.

Look for a new lump or thickening, a change in size or shape, skin dimpling or puckering, a nipple that turns inward, discharge, redness or scaling, and swelling under the arm. Most changes are not cancer — but every change deserves a check.
